Platelet Rich Plasma – “PRP”
What Is the PRP Facial?
The Vampire Facial is an autologous platelet and fibrin process that uses the plasma and platelet fraction of your own blood to prepare a product to enable the administration of your concentrated platelets and tissue building elements. During a PRP service, platelet rich plasma can be used anywhere on your body to reduce pigment, reduce stretch marks, treat wrinkles and light scarring. The Vampire Facial stimulates collagen regrowth allowing the area to tighten and regain youthfulness.
Is it Safe?
The Vampire Facial has been used on thousands of patients worldwide, and it has been shown to be both safe and effective. PRP treatments contain only autologous (from your own body) components and no severe adverse reactions have been reported (nodules, bumps or granulomas).
How is a PRP Facial Performed?
Vampire Facials use all natural, biologically-active PRP, which is loaded with platelets and other healing elements that are applied in a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Treatments are given under the supervision of a cosmetic surgeon. Numbing is used prior to your treatment, making the treatment very comfortable.
Should I Expect Side Effects?
This treatment uses your own body tissues and doesn’t contain any animal or synthetic components. You can’t have an allergic reaction to yourself and there have been no reports of allergic reactions. Skin allergy testing is unnecessary prior to treatment. However, if you have history of allergies please inform your physician. There are no reports of known serious side effects reported. You could however experience some less common reactions, such as mild irritation, edema, bruising, swelling, itching, discoloration or tenderness in the treated area. These are temporary and usually resolve themselves within one to two days. You could develop an infection but that would be very rare.
What Results Can I Expect from Platelet Rich Facial?
This treatment provides a gradual increase in volume by helping to stimulate your body’s own collagen production. After treatment, you may see some immediate results. Once the initial swelling goes down, you may need up to 6 months to see the final results as your body continues making collagen for that long.
Do I Need More Than One Treatment?
Desired results can be achieved in only one visit, but often more treatments are recommended by your medical provider depending on your initial response to your first treatment and your desired result.
