Everyone’s heard of Botox. Whether or not you know what it is or what it does is another story. It’s taking the beauty world by storm and for good reason. Not only does this amazing little treatment help smooth out lines and give new life to a face, it can also be preventative and help with many different medical issues.

WHAT IS BOTOX?Botulinum toxin type A. A popular neurotoxin that, when injected in the face, will reduce muscle movement & lessen the appearance of wrinkles. It can also help with excessive sweating, headaches / migraines, and even depression in some cases.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON AREAS FOR BOTOX INJECTIONS?
The most common area for Botox injections in Utah is the forehead. The forehead actually consists of a few different areas. The most common place people in Utah are getting Botox on their forehead is in between their eyebrows. This area is often referred to as the “elevens” due to the wrinkles that are made in this area when most people make a frowny face. Freezing the muscle that causes the “elevens” in between the brows helps (over time) reduce the appearance of the wrinkles in that area and smooth out the forehead. People who tend to squint a lot or stare at a computer screen all day love this treatment!
HOW MUCH BOTOX DO I NEED?
If you’re looking for Botox injections in Utah, you’re probably wondering how many “units”, or how much Botox you’ll actually need. This depends on the area being treated and your muscle anatomy. A quick consultation with one of our expert Botox injectors in our Utah offices will determine how many Botox units you’ll need for each treatment area.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
After your consultation with one of our Botox specialists in Utah, we’ll draw up the necessary units of Botox solution into a very small syringe with a tiny needle. Then the Botox injector will ask you to make a few faces (example “raise your eyebrows for me… now relax”) and directly inject very small amounts of the solution into your muscle, just below the skin. The injector will do a series of small injections along the areas that need to be treated.
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different but we mostly hear that most areas barely hurt at all, while others can make eyes water. If you experience any pain, it’s over in a matter of seconds as the only thing that typically causes discomfort is the actual needle entering the skin. Many people describe the pain as it’s like getting a vaccination injection, but better because it’s over way quicker and there’s typically no burning sensation.
Botox takes 4 – 10 days to take full effect. Many people don’t see any results of muscles “freezing” for about a week. Please be patient as it goes in effect and do remember that if you had multiple areas treated they may not all “freeze” at the same time. If after 10 days, you see any irregularities please contact the Spa Trouvé location you had your Botox treatment at and we’ll get you in for a touch up appointment.
Once the Botox has had a chance to settle in and take effect many people feel like they’re still able to move those muscles, but when they look in the mirror, nothing actually moves!
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
Directly after your appointment you’ll be instructed not to exercise for about 24 hours. You’re also generally discouraged from lying down for around 4 hours straight after treatment, and you’re advised not to get facials, other major treatments in the area or vigorously massage the area when cleansing or applying moisturizer or cleanser. It’s also a good idea to stay away from anything that would cause the area to heat up like tanning beds or laying out in the sun.
