stop the muscles from contracting.
So what’s the difference between Botox and Dysport? Botox was the first on the market
here in the US, and has become very popular over the years. There’s also the argument
of Botox being the name brand in the market. Dysport is a new and fresh take on Botox,
but what is the actual difference between the two?
Both treatments involve purified proteins that inhibit the muscles in the face. Both are
used as facial relaxers to help relax those same muscle tissues. And both are
temporary treatments and require maintenance.
However, there are three areas where these two products differ. These areas include
dilution, diffusion, and molecular size.
Dilution
Dysport is diluted differently than Botox. This means that it requires a lot more product
to produce the same results as Botox. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For certain
areas of the body, Dysport might actually be a better option. It’s important to consult an
injector for a free consultation to find out what is best to get the results you desire.
Diffusion
Dysport tends to diffuse more than botox. This means that it spreads to a much larger
area than botox. This is great when you have a larger area you want to treat. On the flip
side, this means Dysport can sometimes be less effective in small precise areas. Again,
it is best to consult an injector before deciding what is best.
Molecular Size
Dysport has a smaller molecular size than Botox. This means it can work faster, but
also spread quicker. Again, this has benefits in some areas, but can be a disadvantage
in other areas.
