Latisse or Lash Extensions- What's Right for You-

If you weren’t born with naturally long, full lashes, then you’re certainly not alone. Most women would love to have longer lashes, and very few actually hit the proverbial jackpot by being born with them. In reality, many women turn to all kinds of different products—including eyelash curlers, mascara, and even false lashes—to achieve the dramatic lashes they desire. In fact, did you know that women spend more than $44 million annually on false lashes and similar products? Unfortunately, these options are only temporary. If you’re looking for a longer-term solution for your eyelashes, then you may be considering either Latisse or lash extensions. By understanding the advantages and potential drawbacks of each, you can ultimately determine which choice is best for you.

Lash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are exactly what they sound like; using an adhesive, a professional attaches artificial lashes to your existing lashes to achieve thicker, longer, and fuller eyelashes overall. These are similar to false lashes that you would buy and apply yourself, but these are designed to last longer and use a stronger adhesive. As a result, you can enjoy having longer lashes for up to a month at a time.

While lash extensions are a viable short-term option, there are some important drawbacks to consider. For starters, you’ll need to be careful not to use any oil-based products (such as makeup removers) on your lash extensions, as these can actually cause the adhesive to fail and the lashes to come off. Furthermore, since these are artificial lashes, they’re not going to change the thickness or fullness of your natural lashes.

Finally, the end result is majorly dependent on the expertise of the person applying the lash extensions. Therefore, if you decide to go this route, it’s imperative that you find a professional who has a lot of experience. Otherwise, the lashes may not turn out how you hope. Furthermore, when eyelash extensions come out, they can actually leave your natural lashes even thinner and more sparse than they were before you had them put on.

Latisse for Fuller Lashes

Another option to consider for achieving longer and fuller lashes is that of using Latisse. This is a liquid treatment (similar to a serum) that can be applied to eyelashes to help them grow longer and thicker. The nice thing about Latisse is that you can apply it yourself in the comfort and convenience of your own home, rather than having to turn to a professional. Specifically, Latisse should be applied to the lashes daily over the course of one month to achieve the best results.

The main advantage to using Latisse over lash extensions is that it actually lengthens and thickens your natural lashes, rather than using artificial lashes to give you the appearance of bolder and fuller eyelashes. In this sense, you don’t need to worry about your lashes looking “fake” or an adhesive losing its strength within a few months. And of course, unlike lash extensions, Latisse won’t damage your natural lashes.

Latisse does tend to cost a bit more than lash extensions in the short-term, but when you consider the fact that your lashes will be naturally longer and fuller and that the results will last longer, many would agree that the higher cost is more than worth it in the long-term.

Ultimately, Latisse tends to be the better option for women who want to lengthen and thicken their natural lashes. For more information Latisse or to schedule your consultation, contact Spa Trouve today.
