BroadBand Light (BBL) Treatment

Our Utah spas are proud to offer BBL skincare treatments to our clients across the state. The results this new treatment is producing is blowing our client’s minds, and it’s quickly becoming one of our most popular and talked about treatments.

What is BBL?

The BBL (Broad Band Light) is said to be a more advanced version of IPL therapy. The accuracy and targeting specific skin conditions for treatment has been reported to be better in certain circumstances. IPL is sometimes better suited for precisely treating a very targeted area while our BBL treatment is often used for treating a broader skin range. Both of our light based facial treatments are nonsurgical treatments that work by directing light energy into the skin. Once the light hits the skin, it converts to heat as it reaches its target (pigment in the skin or hair, redness, broken blood vessels, or even bacteria in acne). Once the heat hits the target it is absorbed, and helps eliminate the target from the skin.

As the BBL treated area heals from the exposure, the skin produces healthy elastin and collagen. The technology stimulates new cell growth, which forces the skin to repair itself. As these deeper layers of cells rise to the surface, your skin will continue to improve. The goal of BBL treatments is to remove blemishes and imperfections in the skin.

What can you treat with the BBL facial?

BBL targets skin imperfections below the surface of the skin. It is commonly used to treat:

  • Skin tone
  • Skin texture
  • Acne
  • Pigmentation
  • Broken capillaries
  • Rosacea
  • Sagging or loose skin
  • Birthmarks
  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Bruising
  • Aging skin

BBL Frequently Asked Questions

How many BBL treatments will I need?

As with our Utah IPL treatments, the number of BBL facials you may need can vary from patient to patient. It depends on the severity of the issues being treated, your skin, genetics, and the desired outcome. We will help you determine a personalized BBL treatment plan  based on your needs and desired outcome.

Typically it is recommend to get 4 BBL treatments a year, but again it depends on the area being treated an much more!

What happens during a BBL treatment?

Our Utah BBL facial treatment is a quick and non-invasive treatment. It’s typically gentle, with no need or topical anesthetic, but this can vary on a case-by-case basis.

We will offer you eye protection for the duration of the treatment. As the treatment is performed, you may feel a warm or “rubber band snap” like feeling on the skin being treated.

Typically the entire treatment only takes a few minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

After your treatment our experts will let you know what to expect and how to take care of your skin for the next few days.

What's the recovery of a BBL facial like?

Our Utah BBL facial treatment is a non-invasive treatment with virtually no downtime. Most of our clients can return to work the same day. Everyone’s skin is a little different so you may experience some redness, but you should be able to resume your normal activities almost immediately.

You will be instructed to avoid direct sun exposure and use medical grade sunscreen after your Utah BBL facial.
